“Kate Bernard” To Speak at Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center

Erin Brown, Curator of Collections at the Oklahoma Territorial Museum in Guthrie, will present a first person interpretation of social activist, Kate Bernard, at Noon on Wednesday, March 3 in the Village Church of the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center.

“The Heritage Center is pleased to host this special Brown Bag presentation,” said Aaron Preston, Education Director for the Center, “Oklahomans today continue to reep the benefits of Kate Bernard’s work in the State. Bernard worked tirelessly for issues involving education, child labor laws and better working conditions. She made a significant impact. Imagine, her being elected to public office in an age when women didn’t even have voting rights.”

The presentation is a part of the Heritage Center’s on-going Brown Bag Lecture Series. There will be a short question and answer session following the presentation. “When I do the program I really want to engage the audience and inspire them to go out and make an impact in their world,” remarked Brown.
The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center is located at 507 S. 4th Street in Enid, Oklahoma. For additional information on this or other CSRHC programs, please call the Heritage Center at 580-237-1907.
