September 10, 2012
Rubies & Rigs, the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center’s 3rd Annual Cherokee Strip Days Gala successfully exceeded the $10,000 goal by raising $18,800 to support Heritage Center operations. The gala is the Heritage Center’s major fundraiser of the year. “We so appreciate the support of our community and the passion they have for the history of our region,” said director, Andi Holland, “It was a terrific night with a great crowd in attendance. We thank everyone for coming.” Significant sponsors of the event were Chesapeake Energy, Lew and Myra Ward, Oxbow Calcining and Gary Brown and Associates.
The 1960’s supper club theme for Rubies & Rigs was a hit with the room decked out in red and black décor. Many attended in period attire complete with gloves, beehive hairdos and fedoras. The highlight of the evening was the entertainment by the Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin tribute artists. The night was filled with laughter and dancing...all for a good cause.
